It is with a very concerned and troubled heart that I share the following information with you. The repeat offender, which was running from the police and finally caught and arrested on Sunday, is back on the streets…
No real surprise there now is it?! But wait there is more…
This specific criminal is no stranger to being arrested, and appearing in court, it would appear. This perpetrator has no less than 40+ Cases of housebreaking against him! Despite this shocking fact, Brakpan’s State Prosecutor allowed him bail… AGAIN!!!
Brakpan has many great Police Officers, who go above and beyond the call of duty, and are (just like us) disappointed by our failing justice system. They spend countless man hours building an open and shut case, only to have the case thrown out for some or another reason?! This is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!
Mr/Mrs State Prosecutor,
I sincerely hope that this reaches your eyes. Not only are you putting the community at risk of being robbed by this cretin again, but you are also making more and more citizens lose faith in our justice system. I would love to see what you would do if your home is the next one targeted by him and his cronies!!!!
You break the morale of the Brakpan SAPS, and make them question why they should continue doing their work as best they can. What is the use of doing your job to the best of your ability, when the people who are supposed to prosecute the criminals, simply put them back on the street the very next day?
The dilemma is this… The community knows very well who many of these repeat offenders are, and they are sick and tired of being victims, sick and tired of feeling unsafe, and sick and tired of nothing being done to address the crime situation in our town. Criminals in our town, are a law unto themselves, and it would seem that nothing is being done to protect our community against these thugs.
Drugs, prostitution, burglary, theft, housebreaking, highjacking etc happens on a daily basis, and people are losing faith in the police’s inability to put the criminals away. Especially concerning and unfortunate, as it is not the police who is the problem here.
WHY ARE THE CRIMINALS BEING RELEASED BACK ON OUR STREETS??????
If you read this entire post, it is easy to see how close we are to “gatvol” individuals starting to take the law into their own hands. I am sure I do not need to point out the dangers of vigilantism, and the courts not putting these criminals away is raising more and more talks about people taking matters into their own hands.
This is not something we endorse, nor something we want to see happen, but the failing justice system is making it harder and harder to discourage people from “wanting to do what needs to be done”.
